Getting to Pelham Bay Park


Travel to Pelham Bay Park North. This includes Hunter Island, Orchard Beach, Twin Island

From the north by automobile: Take 95S to exit 14 and merge onto Hutchison River Parkway South toward Whitestone Bridge. Take exit 5 toward Orchard Beach/City Island. Travel around the traffic circle and make the second right, follow signs to Orchard Beach. At the next intersection make a left onto Park Drive. The beach will be in view.

From the south by automobile: Take 95N to Pelham Parkway/Orchard Beach, exit 8B. At the first traffic circle, make a right turn onto Orchard Beach Road and continue straight. On the next intersection make a left turn, Park Drive. The beach will be in view.

By Subway: Take the #6 to the last stop, Pelham Bay Park. Exit left from the station and find the #29 Bus to City Island. Ask the bus driver to drop you at Rodman's Neck. From there you can walk to the beach, about 15 minutes.

Travel to Pelham Bay Park South: This includes the running track and recreational complex.

From the north by automobile: Take 95s and exit Pelham Bay Park exit 7b. Stay on the service road. Make a left turn at Jarvis Road. (Which changes to Country Club road.) and cross the highway. Make another left turn so that you are on 95n service road. When the road splits, stay right. You will be on McDonough Pl. Make the next right onto Middletown Road and continue into the parking lot.


From the south by automobile: Take 95s and exit 7c. When the road splits, stay right. You will be on McDonough Pl. Make the next right onto Middletown Road and continue into the parking lot.


By Subway: Take the #6 to the last stop, Pelham Bay Park. Exit the station and take the walkway over the highway. Walk south through the park to get to the parking lot, where the group usually meets.
