The day looked dreary when I woke up this morning. When I began to drive down City Island Avenue, the sun began to peek out from behind the clouds. By the time we assembled at Rodman's Neck, it was getting brighter and the sun was shining as we walked the path. With the sun's warmth came bird activity and they began singing and foraging. We began by cutting across the City Island Traffic Circle and walking the path that runs along the roadway over the City Island Bridge. We then cut into the  path that led into the woods. Along that path, there were many birds. Yes, it was muddy, but there were no mosquitoes. This was a day for some very sharp eyed birders. Glenn and Ivan's great eyes kept finding birds that I missed. They spotted a Wilson's Warbler which was exciting. Cathy was excited to see so many new species for the first time. We eventually worked our way down to Orchard Beach and birded the The Meadow. We cut back up through another path and went over to Hunter Island. On the way back to the Rodman's Neck Parking lot, we picked up a few more birds. It was a full morning that lasted until 12:00. It was four and a half hours of great birds.
