The City Island Birding Club is a very informal group of birders who find great pleasure in the natural world and are particularly  interested in exploring the fantastic birding opportunities in this area. Pelham Bay Park is a critical stopover and nesting area for many avian species. In the past, the park has been unappreciated by the birding community. Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island, all have their own birding club. Now, the Bronx has one too!
All of our walks are non-competitive, friendly and low key. Everyone is welcome and beginners are especially encouraged. Our walks are approximately 3 hours, but some may wish to leave earlier.
There is no cost, no membership application, no pressure. We generally walk every other week, but are flexible, depending on the season and the weather. In the following weeks we may venture out to other birding areas, as the migration progresses.
