We saw a lot of Elephants. Our first encounter was on a road in Uganda. A large female was crossing with her calf. She became agitated and began aggresively approaching a small car in front of us. She could easily have flipped the car and its occupants. We screamed for our driver to back up because we thought the elephant was going after us as well. Instead, our driver scooted ahead of the small car and the elephant backed down. We were angry at our driver but he knew our large four- wheel vehicle would look formidable to the elephant.
On the floor of Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania Wildebeest migrate. They kept coming for hours, thousands and thousands.
As the wildebeest moved, so did zebra. The animals remained together for protection
This is a Hyrax. We saw this little guy near a rest area in the Serengeti.
The hyrax babies are cute. They reminded me of large hamsters.
This is a Thompson Gazelle.
 Impala
Hartebeest.
Ugandan Kob
There were many herds of Water Buffalo.
Warthogs were also very common.
We watched as Zebra drank from a pond. They were very skittish and ran with every slight sound they heard.
As soon as one zebra spooked, the others followed suit.
This was the first of many Lions we saw. Look closely to the left of the lion and you will see the half eaten remains of a zebra.
Early one morning we watched as a lion took down a wildebeest. The mother and cubs ate the wildebeest alive, its leg flailing in the air.
This is mom after feasting on the wildebeest. Notice her bloody mouth.
It only took a few minutes for the Hyenas to smell the blood. They approached the kill but the lions kept them at bay.
After the hyenas, came the Jackals. Everyone wanted something to eat.
Later that morning another group of lions relaxed.
This is me posing with local warthogs..... next stop, the Bronx!
